Sierra Al Aweer

Al Aweer First, Dubai. UAE

We began this home the way we start every good house in Dubai: on site at sunset with the clients, walking the plot and talking about daily life. They wanted a calm modern villa that opened wide to the garden for family time yet could be quietly private when hosting. The climate and that brief shaped every move. We set the plan on an east west axis and drew a long floating roof to make deep shade and capture breezes. A slim band of planting runs the roof edge to cool the facade and soften the silhouette. Tall glass panels slide away so living spaces spill to the lawn and pool, while vertical timber screens and stone fins give privacy where it is needed most.

Inside, a simple spine links arrival to the garden. Formal majlis sits near the entry. Family living, dining and the kitchen stretch along the terrace so conversations and cooking stay connected to the outdoors. Bedrooms above have generous balconies and cross ventilation. The palette is quiet and durable: pale stone, warm wood, clear glass and concealed linear light that reads as a soft line at night. We iterated everything with the clients through on-site mockups, tuning sill heights, soffits and screen spacing until the house felt effortless. Sierra Al Aweer is a bright, shaded and relaxed family home that breathes with its garden.
